First off, the thread isn't deleted, it's here.

Second, I'll repost what I said there:

Wait, you mean that a website that can be viewed almost in its entirety without logging in has information available to the public?

WHY WAS I NOT TOLD THAT PUBLIC THINGS ARE NOT PRIVATE

Seriously, you're wigging out about something that should be pretty readily apparent. And you're insulting this site, its owner, and its administators because you didn't realize this stuff.

This outrage of yours is ridiculous.

We try to strike a balance between protecting the privacy of our members and welcoming in new people. This is a deliberate policy to which we have given much thought, it's not this way because we don't care about our members. It's not a new policy either, we've not changed what can and can't be seen by none members for several years. Bellybuilders is a porn site for fat gay men with lots of explicit material, so they have a duty to protect the general public from this.

We do respect our members privacy, and all features that might easily be used to identify someone, such as pics, videos and profiles are profected. However we are not a closed site either, we are not ashamed of what we do or what we're about and we want to welcome those that have not yet found us to join, and for this we need a search engine presence.

We also want to help others that may not actually be into weightgain at least develop some understanding of what we're about, to try and offset some of the sensationalist press coverage we sometimes get. Such people may not have the inclination to join, but they can develop an understanding by reading the forums and stories.

Why should this site help protect the people who are in the closet?

And Maxie—I’m getting a bit tired of “Oh, this site is run by a single person, so anything that goes wrong should be excused.” This site is NOT run by whoever the person is who owns the site—it’s actually run by (what I assume) are volunteers like you and Ms.Ripples.

That's not what we mean when we state that this site is owned and opperated by one person. And actually what most of the mods do is make sure members obey the rules. We have little to do with deciding how the site is run, unless Hiccup asks us our opinions.

Hiccup takes care of all the programming/maintenance and lots of other stuff that just doesn't really come to mind right now. We, the mods, are mostly PR peeps...or you could think of us as enforcer *Darth Vader anyone lol* which I guess would make Hiccupx Emperor Palpatine. *I'm sorry H, no offence meant...the idea just popped into my head and it made lol so much I had to post it...*
